FTC Disclosure Guidelines
This is a legal requirement. Failure to disclose can result in FTC enforcement against you personally. CDLRoads is not responsible for your non-compliance.
1. When this applies
When you promote CDLRoads using your affiliate link or promo code, you are required by the FTC to disclose that you earn a commission. This applies to every piece of promotional content — TikToks, Instagram posts, YouTube videos, websites, texts, emails, and anywhere else.
2. How to disclose
Use clear, up-front language. Any of these work:
- “I earn a commission if you use my code”
- “Affiliate link — I get paid if you sign up”
#ador#sponsoredon social media posts
The disclosure must be placed so it’s noticeable before a viewer makes a decision to use your code — not buried in the last line of a 300-word caption or behind a “More” button.
3. Platform specifics
- TikTok / Reels / Shorts: say it on camera and include
#adin the caption. - YouTube: mention it in the first 30 seconds and add it to the description above the fold.
- Instagram posts: use the “Paid partnership” label or include
#adat the top of the caption. - Websites / blogs: a short disclosure near the top of the page or immediately before the affiliate link.
- Email / text: one clear sentence anywhere in the body — before the promo code itself.
4. What doesn't count
- Vague tags like
#partner,#collab, or#spwithout further context. - Disclosures only in bios or profile pages.
- Disclosures that require the viewer to click “See more” to find them.
5. Questions
If you’re unsure whether a specific piece of content complies, email us at javier.cdlroads@gmail.com. When in doubt, disclose more, not less.
